About
Welcome to Restaurant Rinko, a hidden gem nestled atop the cliffs of Shakotan, Hokkaido. Conveniently situated near the scenic Shakotan Cape Observation Deck, this charming restaurant is much more than just a pit stop for tourists; it’s a delightful culinary experience waiting to be unearthed.
As you step inside, you are greeted with warm hospitality from the staff, who, as many customers like Michelle Cheung can attest, are always ready to make room for you, even if the close sign is already up. The ambiance here is serene, offering a perfect backdrop of stunning ocean views that complement the exquisite flavors on your plate.
At the heart of Restaurant Rinko’s allure is their specialty: Uni, or sea urchin, a delicacy that captivates the palate. Customers like Hamed AlKhalifa rave about the freshness of the dish, with uni served atop a steaming bowl of rice, creating a combination that is nothing short of blissful. Although there might be seasons when the uni is not at its peak, the effort to showcase the rich flavors of Hokkaido's seafood remains consistent. Diners like SOON lim appreciated the diverse set meals, which, while perhaps lacking in the most sought-after ingredients during certain periods, never fail to provide an array of delightful tastes.
But don’t worry if uni doesn’t tickle your fancy; the menu boasts a variety of seafood offerings that are equally enticing. Take it from Travelling Mikana, who enjoyed the Seafood Curry and Hama-Don—each dish promising to bring forth the freshest flavors of the region. The quality of dishes continually reminds diners of Hokkaido’s rich maritime bounty, encouraging a sense of exploration through each bite.
Moreover, the price point is reasonable considering the quality and portion sizes, as noted by satisfied patrons like Alexi Law. The staff’s polite demeanor only adds to the overall experience, ensuring that your visit is filled with comfort and satisfaction.
Whether you're a seafood aficionado or just someone looking to indulge in a memorable meal, Restaurant Rinko beckons with promises of authenticity and delightful flavors. So come, soak in the breathtaking views while treating your taste buds to the best of Shakotan's offerings!
“ Restaurant located right next to Shimamui coast, making it very convenient. Be sure to get the seafood bowls - especially the uni. It was very delicious and had no fishy taste at all. ”
“ The Uni was out of this world here. Very fresh and served on rice. Loved this spot for lunch. Service was quick and efficient as expected. Prices were reasonable for the offering. ”
“ I drive to this restaurant in 2023-12-07 due to bad weather ski condition in Nesiko. Goggle Map the restaurant open until 1600 daily. But Goggle forget to mention only between April to November. I missed the the seafood lunch, but still worth to visit and scenery (coastline and rocks) are great there. ”
“ Restaurant on top of the hill, Near Shakotan Cape Observation Deck. Serves specialty menu of Uni ( Sea-Urchin) during summer time. Sea Urchin menu are quite pricey (well they are expensive Sea product). I personally don’t like sea urchin so i didn’t order the menu. I ordered Seafood Curry and Hama-Don. Both tasted awesome! Recommended for traveller who want to taste fresh seafood from Shakotan. ”
“ The staff kindly let us in though they already put the close sign out. It is the 2nd time we came. Love sea urchin in shakotan and the scenic view ”
“ We came to this area mainly for Shimamui Coast but didn't realise it has been closed off for health and safety reasons, and so this restaurant was the most convenient option for us. We were sceptical about it (tourist trap)! Food was good. The seafood wasn't as fresh as it was in Otaru at the fish market but it was't bad. Staff were really nice and polite. ”
“ Food: Portion: Service: Environment: Price: I visited it during May It was not uni season yet Therefore its quite empty there. Still manage to order some steamed uni It was not bad The whole set meal is quite rich with various ingredients dishes. But still prefer to have fresh uni Probably gotta visit another season. The fish is pretty good Can order some ice cream and then go for the hill walk ”
